The Path of Purification (Visuddhimagga)

Buddhaghosa's Visuddhimagga is the classic manual of Theravada Buddhist doctrine and meditation, setting out the path of purification in three parts – virtue (sīla), concentration (samādhi) and understanding (paññā): from virtue and the ascetic practices, the forty meditation subjects, the jhānas and direct-knowledges, to the aggregates, bases and elements, dependent origination and the seven purifications of insight.
